PRESS RELEASE June 2026 For immediate release
Not to be overlooked at this year’s bumper Buxton Fringe (8th-26th July) are the many free events, some organised by the Fringe itself.
New this year is Fringe Saturday at the Pavilion Gardens on Saturday July 18th, a family-friendly event at the Bandstand featuring taster performances along the lines of previous years’ Fringe Sundays. This has turned into the single busiest day of the Fringe with 54 Fringe events going on in the town and beyond including free outdoor attractions such as Buxton Day of Dance, High Peak Pride Picnic, Two Left Hands and The Shakespeare Jukebox.
Another fresh initiative is the Fringe’s free Sunday Socials, chilled out opportunities for performers to socialise with the public, Fringe organisers and each other at the Pump Room on July 12th and 19th from 3pm.
Rather more full-on affairs are the lively Fringe Launch Party, held on the eve of the Fringe (July 7th) at Underground - a great chance to see show extracts for free - and the town’s Well Dressing Carnival Day on the 11th featuring the Fringe’s own float provided by Lomas Distribution and this year on the theme of World Fringe Day.
At the end of the Fringe, the Awards ceremony at the Palace Hotel on the 26th is open to performers, Fringe Friends and by invitation.
There are many more free events in the Fringe and they are listed on the Fringe For Free page in the website’s What’s On section - see www.buxtonfringe.org.uk/descriptionsFree2026.html.
Fringe-goers can find full details of everything on offer via www.buxtonfringe.org.uk, the free printed programme or by downloading the free Buxton Fringe App.
Fringe Marketing Officer Stephanie Billen says: “The Fringe is keen to be as accessible as possible and free events are a way of ensuring lots of people can enjoy what’s on offer, sometimes with the opportunity of donating to performers if they are able.”
The Fringe wishes to thank High Peak Borough Council, its Fringe Friends and the town’s many Fringe supporters and venues.
