New venue for Fringe Programme Party

PRESS RELEASE 8th June 2026 - For immediate release

A host of performers attended Buxton Festival Fringe’s Programme Party on Saturday June 6th, this year held in the spacious location of Buxton Working Men’s Club, soon to be a venue for Underground acts during the Fringe itself (July 8th-26th).

Amid orange balloons and bunting, an enthusiastic crowd applauded extracts and tasters from multiple acts whilst taking the opportunity to pick up the newly published, bumper 64-page printed Fringe programme and learning more about the festival including the chance to offer support by becoming a Fringe Friend. Comedy, theatre, spoken word and engaging music were all represented at this lively evening full of surprising moments with characters ranging from a dominatrix to a yoga teacher and stage antics including a dangerous flirtation with virtual reality and a nostalgic urge to lie on a bed of nails.

Bookings are now open for Fringe shows with details to be found on www.buxtonfringe.org.uk or by downloading the free Buxton Fringe App. Fringe Chair Ian Bowns comments: “With such a huge Fringe it is a great idea to start planning now and book shows before they sell out!”

Anyone wishing to sign up as a Fringe reviewer should meanwhile contact reviews@buxtonfringe.org.uk
