Tap into Dance and Film at Buxton Fringe

PRESS RELEASE for immediate release June 2026

Two of Buxton Fringe’s smallest categories offer big rewards for this year’s audiences.

Newcomers to the Fringe, Sole Rebel, will be bringing jazz and tap to winebar Onnen on 11th July creating an intimate jamming atmosphere following their earlier Jazz Gig for Kids listed under Children’s Events and taking place at St Anne’s Community Centre.

There is a chance for Fringe goers to strut their stuff at Disco Extravaganza for Blythe House Hospice, an exciting evening held in the grand surroundings of The Palace Hotel’s Chatsworth Room and taking in dance styles ranging from Fifties Rock ‘n’ Roll to the New Romantics on July. Guest appearances from Elvis Presley and Marion Monroe are promised!

Over the busy middle weekend of the Fringe, Chapel-en-le-Frith Morris brings its eagerly awaited Buxton Day of Dance filling the streets with traditional dancing from around the country on July 18th.

Also on the 18th, The Palace Hotel hosts Stone of Stone from Downfall Productions, a film shot in Edale featuring music by folk singer Bella Hardy. A caper about locals trying to save their fictional village, it has already caught media attention having been featured on BBC Breakfast.

Offering a treat for the final evening of the Fringe on July 26th, Buxton Shorts Festival showcases a variety of stimulating short films at the Pavilion Arts Centre, all with a local connection. The audience will also have a chance to vote for their favourite.

Fringe Marketing Officer Stephanie Billen says: “Dance and Film are really important categories of entertainment and I love the way our entrants in these categories really involve our audiences.”

The Fringe wishes to thank High Peak Borough Council, its Fringe Friends and the town’s many Fringe supporters and venues.
