PRESS RELEASE: For immediate release August 29th 2018
Following this summer’s successful bumper Buxton Fringe, organisers are already planning for next year’s eagerly awaited 40th Fringe and have announced a new, open-to-all art competition to create the 2019 programme cover.
The Fringe has a reputation for spectacular covers with 2018’s programme using a vibrant design from artist Joanna Allen of New Mills, winner of last year’s Fringe competition.
The new contest is open to amateur and professional artists of all ages with the design to be featured on some 20,000 programmes and publicised on the Fringe website, the Fringe flyer, in advertising and in the press. There is a £100 prize for the winner! The work of runners up will also be featured on the website and potentially in other publicity materials.
The Fringe is leaving the choice of subject matter up to the entrants but says it would welcome entries celebrating the fact that 2019 is the 40th Fringe (the first Fringe was in 1980).
Full details are available on www.buxtonfringe.org.uk. Fringe chair Keith Savage adds: “2019 is going to be a big year for Buxton and the eyes of the world will be on us! Everyone that does anything to promote the town will be looking to be at their best and the Fringe is no exception. We look forward to showcasing some exciting original art.”
