Fringe Frenzy as Deadline Approaches!

PRESS RELEASE 10th April 2014

For immediate release

Buxton Festival Fringe is gearing up to this month's final deadline for performers with a healthy 112 events lined up already!

Says Fringe chair Keith Savage: 'The end-of-March deadline for lower-priced Fringe entries brought the expected rush with nearly 40 entries arriving in the space of 48 hours.' Now he says there is likely to be more 'frenzied activity' in the run up to April 20, the final deadline for the glossy printed programme.

This year's Fringe runs from Wednesday 9 to Sunday July 27 and already there are events in every arts category with exciting recent additions including the Dotdotdot Flamenco Company, award-winning poet Mark Gwynne Jones, Grinlow Art and Storytelling Trail through Buxton's beautiful woods and Anna Beecher's Hans My Hedgehog, a story about being different aimed at families. Regular Fringe goers will be pleased to see the return of magicians Morgan and West, The Off-Off-Off Broadway Company with Back Door, based on Hitchcock's Rear Window and set in 1920s' Paris, and the ever-popular Barrel of Laughs comedy nights - just a few of the highlights at Underground Venues.

A burgeoning music section includes everything from Kenny Robertson's rock guitar to City of Manchester Opera and Festive Fancies from Sheffield Lydian Ensemble. As ever, there is a chance for audiences to participate whether its joining in Buxton Drama League's brand new Panto Capers Workshop or enjoying children's activities as part of Paula Hobdey's family- friendly new exhibition of acrylic paintings at her home.

Details of events as they come in are published on the Fringe website at http://www.buxtonfringe.org.uk. The printed programme will be distributed in Buxton and beyond from the beginning of June with an official launch at the Green Man Gallery on the evening of June 6, open to all.
