Programme Launch for Buxton Fringe

PRESS RELEASE For immediate release - May 30th 2013

Buxton Festival Fringe and The Green Man Gallery are hosting an informal celebration to mark the official launch of the printed Fringe programme.

The lively get together will take place on Friday June 7th at Buxton's Green Man Gallery from 8-10pm and will feature light refreshments and limited quantities of wine supplied by Portland Wine, a local independent wine seller. There will also be live acoustic music and a chance to admire the exciting art on display at the gallery.

Says Fringe chair Stephanie Billen: 'We are deliberately keeping this informal and friendly like the Fringe itself. We've sent no VIP invitations but at the same time everyone is welcome to attend and we hope people will enjoy taking the opportunity to meet some of the Fringe team, become a Fringe Friend and pick up a programme or two. There will also be some Fringe merchandise and brand new badges.'

The Fringe, which is sponsored by the University of Derby Buxton and receives a huge amount of support within the town, is one of the largest Fringes in England with some 170 events this year. Adds Stephanie: 'Details of all the shows are on the website http://www.buxtonfringe.org.uk but it's still nice to look at a physical programme and our new designer Eric Tilley has done a great job in making it look good and read clearly. We've also added handy page number references in the diary at the back and made the centre page map easier to use than ever. The beautiful cover is from last year's Fringe competition winner, Lynn Hawkins.'

The free programme is currently being distributed throughout the town and beyond. The Fringe itself runs between July 3-21 and will be launched by a party at Underground Venues on July 2.
