March Entry Deadline due for Buxton Fringe

PRESS RELEASE 21st March 2013

For immediate release

Buxton Festival Fringe is preparing for another bumper year with over 80 entries already signed up for 2013 in all categories of the Fringe programme including Theatre, Visual Arts, Music and Comedy.

Among the exciting events lined up for this year is a Poetry Festival in Litton over the weekend of 12th - 14th July and featuring John Hegley and Derbyshire Poet Laureate, Matt Black. Freerange Theatre Company bring Spoonface Steinberg, a play by Billy Elliot writer Lee Hall, and last year's Comedy award winner Helen Arney returns with real-life partner Rob Wells for an hour of home-cooked science and comedy in Domestic Science.

Fringe chair Stephanie Billen comments: 'We are constantly surprised at the depth and breadth of talent on offer in our programme and this year is shaping up wonderfully. Go back in time as Poole's Cavern celebrates 160 years as a show cave with Victorian Candle Lit tours, see what the creative members of The Green Man Gallery can produce when they start thinking green, or catch a concert in our massive and varied musical programme. Details of all our shows including a host of free events are published on the website http://www.buxtonfringe.org.uk'.

There is still plenty of time for performers who would like to appear at this year's Fringe to enter. There are two more deadlines: for performers who enter before 31 March, the Fringe fee is £65. The strict and final deadline for inclusion in the printed programme, published in early June, is April 21, with April entries charged at the full cost of £80. Details of how to choose your venue, enter and pay online are published on the Fringe website. For further information go to http://www.buxtonfringe.org.uk/entrants.html or telephone 01298 79351.

To keep in touch with the latest gossip on preparations for this year's Fringe, visit the Fringe website http://www.buxtonfringe.org.uk, where you can link to the Fringe blog and find the Fringe on Facebook and Twitter (@BuxtonFringe). Stephanie adds: 'You can also enjoy regular Fringe communications, events and offers throughout the year by becoming a Fringe Friend - full details on the website.'

The Fringe is grateful to all its venues around the town including the spectacular Dome, home of the Fringe's main sponsor, The University of Derby Buxton.

This year's Fringe runs from Wednesday 3 to Sunday 21 July.
