Music in abundance at the Buxton Fringe

Press Release: 8th March 2012

Buxton is set for another exciting summer of arts and culture as Buxton Festival Fringe reveal that they already have over 60 entries covering the full range of the Fringe programme from Theatre to Art, and Music to Comedy, and all points between.

There is a wealth of entries in Music with exciting new performers, some from far afield - Guelph Chamber Choir from Canada will be at St John the Baptist Church in Tideswell - and the return of many Fringe favourites, including the Amaretti Chamber Orchestra, High Peak Orchestra, Partita and Tideswell Male Voice Choir.

Fringe chair Stephanie Billen comments: 'It's all looking very promising with a wonderful programme of music already and entries in comedy, theatre and other categories building up. The Buxton Art Trail returns after its huge success in 2010, so look out for the art buzz all over Buxton. You'll also find A Midsummer Night's Dream at Poole's Cavern from the company that performed last year's Macbeth there, and in the year of his bicentenary, a Spoken Word performance celebrating Charles Dickens. Details of all our shows are published on the website where there is also news of our brand new competition to design the programme cover for 2013'.

There is still plenty of time for performers who would like to appear at this year's Fringe to enter. There are two more deadlines: for performers who enter before 31 March, the Fringe fee is £65. The strict and final deadline for inclusion in the printed programme, published in early June, is April 22, with April entries charged at the full cost of £80. Details of how to choose your venue, enter and pay online are published on the Fringe website. For further information go to or telephone 01298 79351.

To keep in touch with the latest gossip on preparations for this year's Fringe, make the Fringe website one of your favourites, enjoy the Fringe blog on the Buxton Advertiser's website and find the Fringe on Facebook and Twitter (@BuxtonFringe). Stephanie adds: 'You can also enjoy regular Fringe communications, events and offers throughout the year by becoming a Fringe Friend - full details on the website or Send message to Friends'.
