BUXTON FRINGE IS A BARREL OF LAUGHS
PRESS RELEASE: For immediate release May/June 2006
There is a strong comedy element to this year's Buxton Festival Fringe (July 7-23). Prepare for:
- Superb character comedy from Mrs Barbara Nice, aka Janice Connolly, familiar from TV's Phoenix Nights and Dead Man Weds.
- Top quality stand up from Underground Events with Barrel of Laughs comedy nights; political comedian Bill Bruce; over at Nice One, Old Clubhouse, seasoned stand-up and Buzz Club regular Bill Woolland.
- Transatlantic tales: Mark Twain Talks from the US; American chat show hosts share their secrets in Low Fat Theatre's Hannah and Peter UK; a Native American trickster shows up in Jaffathecat's Kokopelli and the Wannabe.
- Award-winning talent: Cathy Crabb writes and directs Paperboys by MediaMedea fresh from a run at The Comedy Store. Local Buxton's own Three's Company returns with Play on Words - book early; they usually sell out!
This is just to scratch the surface of a rib-tickling comedy selection complemented by many humorous productions listed under Drama and For Young People.
Don't forget to plan your Fringe-going using the free Fringe programme, widely available from June, or the website: http://www.buxtonfringe.org.uk, where listings are published in full. Many shows are now bookable through the Buxton Opera House (by phone and online). Look out for a black box next to the listing (marked as an asterix on the website).
