BUXTON FESTIVAL FRINGE: APRIL DEADLINE LOOMS

Buxton Festival Fringe is urging potential Fringe performers to get their entries in soon in order to take advantage of the 10 per cent discount offer for entries received by April 1.

'Not only do you save money on your entry fee, but it helps the Fringe enormously to receive entries early rather than all at the last minute', says chair of the Fringe committee, John Wilson. 'It also means that you will go up on the Fringe website immediately thereby maximising your exposure.'

The Fringe website at http://www.buxtonfringe.org.uk has expanded greatly of late and all the information for entrants, including a downloadable booking form, is now up there.

As part of the revised information for entrants there is a new and more detailed list of potential venues. The most recent of these offers a chance for performers to create a Fringe outreach season at New Mills. St James the Less Church and Arts Centre, Spring Bank, New Mills is a small Victorian church approaching deconsecration. It would be particularly suitable for small music events. For further information see the Fringe website or contact Philip Kendall 01663 746074.

The Buxton Festival Fringe runs from July 7-23 this year and is looking forward to a bumper crop of drama, music, exhibitions, comedy, dance and more. The Fringe is always looking for volunteers for tasks such as distributing the Fringe programme (this year to be in a new, expanded format) and for reviewing Fringe events. A Friends of the Fringe scheme has also been set up and 48 Friends have joined since its launch last autumn.

The final deadline for Fringe entrants is May 1 after which date it will not be possible to list events in the printed programme. For more information and to see the programme of events building up, do check out the Fringe website.
