Programme Cover 2018

Buxton Festival Fringe is holding a competition open to professional and non-professional artists to design a piece of artwork for the cover of the Fringe's printed programme for 2019 - our 40th Fringe! The deadline is November 1st 2018! Approximately 20,000 Fringe40 programmes will be printed. The winning artwork will also be publicised on the Fringe website, on the Fringe flyer, in advertising and in the press and there will be a £100 prize for the winner.

Please read on for further information. If you have any further questions do please send a message to Marketing.

IMAGE INFORMATION

The winning entry will showcase the distinctive style of the artist whilst conveying the spirit of the Fringe.

There is no restriction on the use of colour but competitors should bear in mind that the banner on the side of the template has an orange background and that this is the brand colour for the Fringe.

We will incorporate the logo of our sponsor, the University of Derby, in the bottom left hand corner. Its exact dimensions and position are shown on the template (see right).

Sample artwork and template

The images must be submitted as follows:

Size:
158mm (Width) x 155mm (Height)
The proportions of the template must be adhered to when submitting the image. Please see template, right.
Format:
.jpeg or .pdf (High resolution, at least 300dpi)

SUBJECT MATTER

This is entirely up to you but we would be pleased if you reflected the fact that it is our 40th Fringe. Please note, 2019 marks our 40th year (our first Fringe was in 1980) but not our 40th anniversary. The Buxton International Festival which began in 1979 is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2019.

MEDIUM

Original artwork may be in any medium but must be submitted as a digital file. Note that the exact reproduction of your artwork may be slightly altered during the printing process and we will not be held responsible for this. The programme designer may also wish to alter or crop your image, in which case you will be consulted.
